Scary Stories: Dark Hansel and Gretel

Hansel and Gretel awoke to a feral-deep-growling thirst for life, and a sense of freedom in their lower bellies for their father had inadvertently given them new life by leaving them there in that deep dark woods.  They blinked their eyes slowly as they adjusted to the dark and wiped mud stained tears from their cheeks, the echoes of their excitement on hyperdrive as they strained to get a good look around.  They saw the breadcrumbs that Hansel had left as a trail to return that old life that never seemed to serve them well and they laughed to themselves when they were still on the ground.  “We won’t be…

    Antler Moon Mythos

And in the beginning there was she, she who is the primordial darkness that births forth all of life.  Before there was the time of the lost Gods, she was the faceless peace of the dark, and in her was everything.  From a single moaning, groaning breath of her own sheer satisfaction and pleasure she was birthed, the first creature to come forth and she was a wild horned shapeshifter, a goddess, a white mare and her wild desires that swirled in ribbons of ecstasy within her pelvic bowls made her roll upon the earth and splash into the rivers and play.  She rubbed mud all over in just the…

If You Say Twin Flame One More Time I’m Gonna Puke

I am so god damned sick of that stupid term:  TWIN FLAME.  Such a tricky, sticky, slippery little concept that it is and it’s circulating amongst the new age crowds and gatherings of woke AF persons (I include myself amongst this group because CLEARLY I’m super spiritual *said using my best JP voice*).  It’s all over the internet, there are books written about it, and Facebook algorithms have its number pinged to delightfully fill your news feed full of little tests to see if you have indeed stumbled upon this electric rainbow-colored unicorn in the dark that matches your vibrational sequence, was born of the same breath and mirrors your…

    Coal Miner’s Daughter

Once upon a time, not that long ago, my paternal-line had land, they had titles, they came from an ancient clan with a crest to claim. Three generations before me they left upon the SS Anchoria, after a failed attempt to stay closer in Scotland and sailed away from the Emerald Isle in desperate search of a better life. My grandfather was 1st generation Irish, and it’s the same story told by millions of Irish immigrants driven out of their homeland through the greed of the spreading British colonialism, it was mass genocide of an inconceivable size blamed upon a potato blight. What it really was, was the creator of…

    Body Prayer

I am the North and I am cold bent hands As sunlit glitter falls from the sky I am the East and I am the breath of warm winds Blowing the smoke from her hair I am the South and I am transfixed by the dancing flame Until only the ashes of ghosts remain I am the West and I am the ebb and flow That builds the sand castles and washes them away I am drawn, trancelike, into this relentless and bitter cold land of the North by the brilliant colors just stirring on the horizon. I watch the first sliver of the red Sun God cautiously peek at…

    Year of Balance

Blessed grand morning 2019. It’s so nice to be with you.  I floated between the times on last year’s eve upon fluffy heart-centered poet’s clouds and awoke this morn with memories of swelling story-telling medicine inside of my soul.  This morning I feel lighter like I stepped right out of that fight club meme from yesteryear straight into the moonbeams of the new year.  Dreams, love and the holy play between light and shadows will guide my way and I’ve started the journey less resistant to what may come.  Some say the new year begins on Samhain but for me it is always heralded in closer to the Gregorian calendar’s…

    Is Santa Claus a Woman?

The first and instinctive answer to spill forth from my tongue is an emphatic NO, but I always like to poke and prod around at those reflexive answers that have been planted like seeds somewhere deep inside probably out of self-preservation and ancient DNA remembrances of the patriarchal wounds and burning times.  Is Santa Claus a woman?  Now that would make one hell of a statement during our feminist, Goddess rising times wouldn’t it?  The sound of those words makes me smile cynically and deeply into my home brewed tea prepared for me by my sacred masculine partner, one of those rare jewels you find wondering about on an oasis…

    Queen of December

She was born from the groaning moan of a wind-blown tree in the dead stillness of winter.  There was a hush all around as crystalline snowflakes silently fell to the ground.  For she was born a winter fairy you see, born into the quite surrounds and the auspiciousness of the season, amongst the crackling light of a well-lit hearth, and the twinkles of strands of lights.  The sounds of hymns were being sung in the distance and hooded, cloaked mystics swinging censers of smoke blessing the birth of the holy ones in the season of the North.  They came to her then following along the earth-lined path of energy that…

    Hansel and Gretel Revisioned

Hansel and Gretel awoke to a deep growling hunger in their bellies, and a deep sadness in their hearts for their father had abandoned them there in that deep dark woods, the echoes of their psyches on overdrive as they strained to look around for the bread crumbs that Hansel had left as a trail.  When no bread was to be found they began to lose hope until they heard the screeching sound of what sounded like no bird that they had ever heard before.  It was a great white thing with a huge expanse of wing and landed perched directly in front of them on a low-lying rock and…
